Autumn Light
The leaves are center stage these days, crunching at our feet and filling the air with the sound of change, a sound that is familiar. While we find ourselves together in a time with great uncertainty, a breath of autumn air and these familiar longings for the leaves to not fall, to stay the brilliant colors of change, for the air to hold this smell of warmth, of apples and a fireplace, of halloween and her conversations of ghosts and ghouls and little kids dressed up with bags full of candy, to hold and relish in the smell and nourishment of stew and fresh bread and crisp morning light, will keep us steady.
I long to share an evening with friends, I mostly fail at Zoom but delight in the opportunities to watch from home the opening night of a great play, a new movie, a dance performance, an art exhibition with no concern for the miles I might have to travel if it weren’t for this crazy time. So I cuddle up with a blanket and popcorn and I send to you all, warmth, compassion, healing, and some gentle, kind, and slow days.
XO
